Volcanoes National park (Parc Nationale des Volcans)
This is a home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Africa. The park is 2-3 hours drive from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Major activities include gorilla tracking, golden monkey trekking, adventurous hike to Dian Fossey Tombs, cultural walk to nearby Banyarwanda cultural villages, birding, nature walk to the beautiful twin lake of Burera and Ruhondo as well as Karisimbi mountain hiking among others. Nyungwe Primates Forest
This is the largest mountainous forest in East and central Africa, and a home to 13 primate species, so fur the highest concentration in Africa. Akagera National Park
This is located in the Eastern part of the country near Tanzania boarder, just 3 hours drive from Kigali. The park inhabits a variety of animals which include elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, Hippos and crocodiles in Lake Ihema among others.
