The 14 days uganda primate and gorilla trekking safari brings you close to the mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, chimpanzees in Kibale forest national park, game drives and launch cruise in Queen elizabeth national park and to Murchison falls national park. The safari starts and ends in Uganda.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer To Murchison Falls National Park
Upon arriving at the airport, to Murchison falls national park, via Masindi. En route, visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a guided nature walk to see the Rhinos. Proceed and have lunch in Masindi town. You will then enter the Park through the Kichumbanyobo gate and upon arrival, you will visit the Top of the falls where the Park derives its name. At the top of the falls, you will see water exploding through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with a variety of animals and bird species. Dinner and overnight at Paara lodge/Pakuba lodge.

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise
After breakfast, you will set out for the morning game drive in the Northern sector of the Park. Look out for some of the big Five animals such as Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes and if you are Lucky, you will be able to see Leopards. You will also be able to see animals such as Rothschild giraffe, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Bushbucks and also other Antelopes. Return back for lunch and in the afternoon, experience the 3 hours launch cruise along the Nile. This will get you close to the bottom of the falls and en route, you will be able to see a variety of Hippos, Crocodiles, and a lot of other animals alongside the river banks taking water. If you are lucky, you can also spot the rare shoe bill stork and other variety of bird species in the area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge (Day 1).

Day 3: Top of Murchison Falls and nature walks.

Visit the Top of the falls for clear views of the gorge where the Nile squeezes in to a 7 meter gorge dropping 40 meters. The falls are spectacular and thunderous with a beautiful rainbow displayed on sunny days. Go for a nature walk in the afternoon go for chimps tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi with in Budongo Forest. These chimps are within their natural habitat and your encounter with them, is such a great and wonderful experience. Overnight and Dinner at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Have Breakfast at the lodge and transfer to Kibale National Park with a game drive enroute. Kibale lies amidst the great mountains of the moon offering you beautiful sceneries. Arrive early for lunch at Chimp nest restaurant, and then proceed for wild chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest. Expect an encounter with other primates such as primates such as the Mangabeys, colobus monkeys, bush babies, Olive baboons and many more. Dinner and overnight at Primates lodge/Crater safari lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

After breakfast, you will head to the Park headquarters at Kanyachu for chimpanzee tracking briefing by the Park Rangers. After this, you will be accompanied by the Ranger Guide into the forest to search for the Chimpanzee which are Man’s closest friends and Cousins. Kibale Forest is not only home to the chimps but also to other 12 species of primates including the red colobus and L’hoests monkeys, Varvet Monkeys, Red Tailed Monkeys, baboons and so on. You will experience how the chimps feed and interact with each other. Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon set out for the Nature walk in Bigodi swamp. Here you will enjoy various bird species and also other primates. Bigodi is considered as a bird watchers paradise because of the very many bird species that can be viewed from the swamp. Dinner and Over night at the lodge.

Day 6: Forest Walk and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will have a morning breakfast and go for a nature walk in the forest. Here you will enjoy the sweet sounds of birds singing in the trees as well as encountering animals like baboons, red tailed monkeys and mangabey among others. Go back to the lodge for refreshment and the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/ Simba safari lodge.

Day 7: Game drive and Fantastic launch cruise
Take a cup of Tea / coffee before dawn and proceed for a game drive and catch up with the early risers and predators as they return to their hide outs. Expect an encounter with big game like Lions, hyenas, water bucks, bush babies, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kob, many antelopes and others. You will retire from the game drive for late breakfast and lunch, then gather your strength for a fantastic launch cruise on the Kazinga channel that will recompense you with game like Buffaloes, hundreds of hippos and about 611 birds. The boat provides a clear platform for photographing, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Ishasha sector & transfer to Bwindi forest national park
You will have a morning breakfast and drive through ishasha sector for game drives. Expect to see lions hanging up in the trees which are only seen in this sector in the whole of Africa. You will have lunch enroute at Savannahs lodge and proceed to the Bwindi reaching in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Mahogany springs lodge/Bwindi forest lodge.

Day 9:Gorilla trekking and Batwa community walk.
Wake up early and with packed lunch drive to the national park headquarters for briefing about the code of conduct while with the gorillas.You will then hike into the jungle led by an armed guide to where the allocated gorilla family was spotted last evening. In the evening, visit batwa pygmies and learn more about their traditional forest life. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 10: Transfer to lake Mburo
After an early breakfast, transfer to lake Mburo through the beautiful hills of kabale, also known as a switzerland of Africa. You will continue to lake Mburo and have lunch at the lodge. In the evening, visit the salt lick expecting to see various animals licking the salt. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo lodge.

Day 11: Game drives and horse riding
Have a morning breakfast and go for a morning game drive in the open savannahs. Expect to see many animals such as zebras, uganda kobs, hippo and birds like African Fin foot, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle, you may also sight the rare Shoebill Stork and impalas browsing in the grass. return to the lodge for refreshment as you wait for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, go for horse riding and return to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 12: Boat cruise and transfer to kampala
On this day, you will have an early breakfast and transfer to lake Mburo for a boat cruise. Return to the lodge for refreshment and then transfer to kampala.Dinner and overnight at kampala serena hotel.

Day 13: Transfer from Kampala to Ngamba Island Safari
Leave Kampala for UWEC where the boat to the island awaits you, take a boat ride to the island. You will be introduced and briefed before you can start the tour. Upon arrival, you will have lunch and in the evening, you will watch the chimpanzees at the sanctuary as they feed from the Visitor Platform. Dinner and Overnight

Day 14: Forest walk & transfer to the Airport
After breakfast at the Camp, you will set out for a forest walk along with the Chimps. The walk will get you closer to these man’s closest friends. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will take a ferry back to Entebbe and head straight to the airport for a return flight.
